Creating a new publishing platform
Elsevier is a worldleading scientific publisher. Its flagship products include scientific journals such as The Lancet and Cell. Between 2014 and 2021, I have been working on and off several assignments.
Elsevier asked me for creative direction and UX strategy of a self-initiated concept on innovative scientific publishing with a paper centric and data driven approach. The manuscript files submitted by the author for possible publication are automatically transformed into a online draft article. During the submission cycle of submitting, reviewing and revision, the paper gets enriched with more data-structured content and evolves into a final publication. In my role as creative director, I did set the strategy, vision and design criteria. As the only designer in this pilot, I also created a user experience with tangible designs that we weekly discussed and tested with users.
